Claude Personal Finance Beta: US Availability, Plaid, and Privacy

Claude Personal Finance is rolling out in beta to Pro, Max, and Ultra personal plans in the US, with read-only access to selected US bank accounts through Plaid. Check account and regional eligibility first, then review the data scope. Unlinking stops future reads but does not erase existing chats or shared content.

Service eligibility and regional restrictions

PuppyIP serves only compliant overseas businesses and their authorized personnel. Proxy services are not available in mainland China. The service may only be used for lawful business activities outside mainland China. Use of this service within mainland China is prohibited.

Hosting a proxy IP or server overseas does not change these restrictions. The service must not be provided to end users in mainland China through relaying, forwarding, sharing or resale. Before use, read the Terms of Service.

Key Takeaways

  • Anthropic announced Personal Finance beta on November 5, 2026. The Help Center says it is still rolling out gradually to Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the US, not Free, Team, or Enterprise.
  • The listed platforms are Claude on the web, desktop, iOS, and Android. Accounts connect through Plaid in read-only mode, with up to 16 banks and up to 24 months of transactions.
  • For investment, loan, and credit card accounts, Claude reads balances and credit limits, not holdings, trades, rates, or terms. Balances may be one or two days old.
  • If the feature is missing, check the current app, personal account, and US availability conditions. The Help Center gives no complete institution list or rollout completion date. Unlinking does not remove existing chats, shared links, or artifacts, and unlinking the last bank irreversibly resets the dashboard.

The US beta is still rolling out

Anthropic announced Personal Finance beta on November 5, 2026, with a rollout beginning that week. At this November 6 check, the Help Center still says some eligible accounts may not see the feature yet. It gives no account-by-account schedule or general availability date.

The beta is limited to Pro, Max, and Ultra personal plans in the US; Free, Team, and Enterprise are excluded. It supports Claude on the web, Claude Desktop, iOS, and Android. Subscribing to an eligible plan does not mean the feature has reached that account.

Plaid provides read-only access to selected accounts

Plaid is a service connecting apps to banks. Users authenticate through Plaid and choose which accounts to share; Claude does not ask for or see their bank password. Personal Finance can link up to 16 banks and can only read accounts. It cannot move, manage, or invest money.

The available data includes bank names, account names and types, the last few account-number digits (usually four), balances, credit limits, and up to 24 months of transaction amounts, dates, merchants, categories, and bank descriptions. Claude may also see a full account number if a bank puts it in an account name or transaction description. The privacy boundary is not a guarantee that full numbers can never appear.

For investment, loan, and credit card accounts, the Help Center limits access to balances and credit limits, not holdings, trades, rates, or terms. Balances may be a day or two old, and two logins for one account can lead to duplicate counting. When a bank cannot be read, its data is left out of spending figures.

Check the current app and account conditions

The Help Center says Personal Finance appears in the sidebar; if it is not shown there, check the More menu. If the entry is missing, the documented checks are the plan, whether the account is a personal account rather than Team or Enterprise, and whether the current app is up to date. Even when those conditions are met, access may not have reached that account yet.

The feature is available only in the US and can link US banks only. The Help Center says the entry is hidden while a user is outside the US or using a VPN connected from another country, until they return. This does not establish that changing an IP address grants eligibility.

Linked accounts cannot be used in scheduled tasks, Cowork tasks, or Claude Code, and may not work in a project. Personal Finance is unavailable in Claude Duet. Enabling Plaid in another chat does not automatically remove these limits.

Unlinking does not erase existing content

Conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic’s models; content shared outside the hub follows the applicable privacy settings. Financial data appears in conversations and stays in chat history until the chat is deleted, subject to Anthropic’s data-retention practices.

Service providers hosting Claude also handle bank data, and Plaid processes it under its own terms and privacy policy. Read-only access does not mean data stays solely on the user’s device or that sharing content cannot expose financial figures.

Unlinking a bank stops future reads, but existing answers can remain in chats, shared links, or artifacts, which are generated items that can be kept separately. An artifact remains until deleted separately, even if its source chat is deleted. Unlinking the last bank also irreversibly deletes dashboard widgets, their settings such as budgets, and setup answers.

Accuracy, intended use, and open questions

Personal Finance is meant to help users understand their money; it is not designed to provide investment advice. Claude can make mistakes, balances may be delayed, and accounts can be counted twice. The Help Center says to check important figures against the bank's own app or statements. Read-only access describes what the feature can do; it does not guarantee complete, real-time, or accurate data, or a particular financial outcome.

The reviewed announcement and Help Center do not say whether Personal Finance has a separate feature fee. The absence of a separate price does not mean it is free; pricing for Pro, Max, and Ultra plans was not checked here. The official pages also do not give a complete list of supported banks or financial institutions, or say when the beta will end or reach each account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does ending a paid plan automatically unlink my banks?

No. The Help Center says that when the plan ends, Personal Finance becomes inaccessible and Claude cannot read the accounts in chats, but banks stay linked until you unlink them. If you do not plan to return, Anthropic recommends unlinking before the subscription ends. After expiry, follow the Help Center’s Connectors or Plaid account-management instructions.

Can I unlink just one account at a bank?

Not currently. Unlinking a bank disconnects every account shared under that bank login. To change which accounts are shared, link the same bank again and select every account you want to keep sharing in Plaid. If a duplicate-link prompt appears, “Switch to the new link” replaces the old connection with the new selection.
