Service eligibility and regional restrictions
PuppyIP serves only compliant overseas businesses and their authorized personnel. Proxy services are not available in mainland China. The service may only be used for lawful business activities outside mainland China. Use of this service within mainland China is prohibited.
Hosting a proxy IP or server overseas does not change these restrictions. The service must not be provided to end users in mainland China through relaying, forwarding, sharing or resale. Before use, read the Terms of Service.
Key Takeaways
- Supports Databricks personal access tokens and service principal OAuth client secrets, plus Twilio API keys and Auth Tokens. Replacement Databricks PATs retain the original scopes.
- Use a managed external secret with the partner's required fields. Rotation is enabled by default when creating one in the console; this does not establish a default for every API creation path.
- Configure partner metadata, a dedicated IAM rotation role and a schedule in the console. Removing the custom Lambda does not remove permission requirements.
- Availability is limited to AWS Regions supporting managed external secrets. The sources reviewed do not supply a complete Region list or exact fees. Check application refresh behavior and treatment of old credentials separately.
What work does the new integration remove?
On October 12, 2026, AWS announced managed external secrets support for Databricks and Twilio. This Secrets Manager secret type stores and rotates partner credentials in a prescribed format. You can configure rotation through the console or API without writing, deploying or maintaining a custom rotation Lambda function.
It serves data pipelines, CI/CD workflows, and messaging or calling applications using those credentials. Availability covers AWS Regions where managed external secrets is supported; it does not establish access in every AWS Region or account. The five sources reviewed do not give a complete Region list, exact fees or a free-use promise.
Choose the credential type; replacement PATs retain their scopes
Databricks personal access tokens and service principal OAuth client secrets use DatabricksPAT and DatabricksSPSecret respectively. A PAT is a credential authorizing service calls. AWS explicitly says each replacement PAT keeps the original token's scopes—the operations it is allowed to call.
Twilio support covers API keys and Auth Tokens. The current partner table lists TwilioApiKey, TwilioAuthToken and TwilioMainApiKey separately. Identify your credential before preparing the partner's secret value and rotation metadata. Secret value fields are supplied with CreateSecret; rotation metadata is used with RotateSecret. An arbitrary string secret is not evidence of a correctly configured integration.
Configure an existing managed external secret in the console
Open Secrets Manager and select a managed external secret already created according to the partner's requirements. Confirm the type and value first. These steps do not replace the field definitions for the particular Databricks or Twilio integration.
Open Configuration, choose Edit rotation under Rotation configuration, then enable Automatic rotation. The overview documents default activation during console creation. Check the actual setting on an existing secret, and do not extend that console default to every API creation workflow.
Enter the required partner fields under Rotation metadata. ExternalSecretRotationMetadata represents these fields. Do not copy the documentation's Salesforce apiVersion example into a Databricks or Twilio integration.
Under Service permissions for secret rotation, create a role or select an existing IAM role with the appropriate partner permissions. ExternalSecretRotationRoleArn identifies that role. Default permissions are scoped to the partner and the Region containing the secret.
Set the Rotation schedule, then choose Save. The documentation's every-30-days interval is an example, not a universal requirement for these integrations. Choose a schedule appropriate to the credential requirements and its application use.
After saving, review the type, metadata, role and schedule. AWS offers console and API setup. We have not created a secret, changed permissions, triggered rotation or called a real account.
Returning the current value still depends on your application's read path
The announcement says Secrets Manager returns the current credential so applications pick up rotated values, with no code changes required. Check the integration behind that statement: your application must actually use the current value from Secrets Manager rather than an independently stored copy.
Consider a hypothetical example we have not run: one job retrieves its value from Secrets Manager, while another program keeps an old value in startup configuration. Check where and when each reads or refreshes its credential. The announcement does not specify a client's cache refresh, old-credential invalidation or connection renewal; it does not prove an immediate, seamless switch for every program.
Check the rotation role, KMS permissions and network allowlist separately
The security guide says the role is validated during setup, used exclusively for rotation and can have permissions scoped to individual secrets. For a customer managed KMS key, also check the rotation role's IAM policy and the CMK trust policy permissions. Encrypted storage does not itself authorize rotation.
If the external resource restricts incoming IPs, check the AWS-managed prefix list for the secret's Region: com.amazonaws.region.secretsmanager-managed-external-secrets, replacing region with the actual Region. Referencing the managed list tracks changes to its underlying IP ranges. If you read its entries and maintain rules yourself, the documentation calls for periodic refreshes. Do not copy another Region's example addresses or open all ingress to troubleshoot.
Verify one authorized call chain before a wider rollout
In an authorized isolated environment, you can use a nonproduction credential to check the type, partner fields, rotation role and schedule, then compare a rotation activity with what the application reads. This is a proposed process, not a test we performed. Saving a console setting does not prove both the third-party update and application continuity succeeded.
AWS CloudTrail records rotation activities, secret-value updates and management operations. A useful handoff includes time, secret type, Region, application read behavior and redacted errors, with unresolved cache, old-credential or partner-field questions. Keep real secret values, tokens and complete request headers out of public material.

Frequently Asked Questions
Must I give AWS third-party administrator privileges?
The security guide says managed external secrets does not require sharing administrator-level privileges for the third-party application account. Rotation uses the credentials and metadata you provide for authorized update and validation calls. Prepare the required partner-specific permissions rather than granting unrestricted access.
Will an existing custom rotation Lambda be deleted automatically?
The sources say this managed secret type requires no rotation Lambda deployed in your account. They do not provide an automatic deletion or arbitrary-secret migration procedure. Check the existing secret type, application dependencies and migration plan before removing a working rotation flow.
