Service eligibility and regional restrictions
PuppyIP serves only compliant overseas businesses and their authorized personnel. Proxy services are not available in mainland China. The service may only be used for lawful business activities outside mainland China. Use of this service within mainland China is prohibited.
Hosting a proxy IP or server overseas does not change these restrictions. The service must not be provided to end users in mainland China through relaying, forwarding, sharing or resale. Before use, read the Terms of Service.
Key Takeaways
- Keep the benchmark estimate and broader research judgment in their respective comparison windows.
- Benchmark progress, individual task speed and team delivery quality need separate measures.
- Read the July 15 model risk review separately from the October acceleration assessment.
- Measure local workflow gains independently, and use product notices for access or plan changes.
Identify the subject and dates first
METR published its assessment on November 5, 2026. Its team worked from August 12 to October 29, with conclusions about Anthropic's progress in October. Those assessment dates are distinct from the comparison period for each growth estimate.
Before using an acceleration claim, identify its outcome: model capability growth, task duration, or a team's finished delivery. Record the measure and denominator separately; saying that AI doubled work obscures these different questions.
What do 1.9x and roughly 2x refer to?
METR estimates that AECI benchmark-score growth since October 2025 was 1.9 times the earlier trend (95% confidence interval: 1.5–2.8). Its separate, substantially uncertain judgment puts progress on well-specified capabilities at roughly twice the March 2024–October 2025 rate.
These measures do not directly time an individual's tickets. Keep each measure and comparison period intact. Do not rewrite 1.9x as a universal 90% gain in engineer productivity, or apply one benchmark's change to every real-world task.
What limits the attribution and public evidence?
METR judges that AI assistance likely explains most current acceleration, with substantial uncertainty and non-AI contributors. Anthropic redacted most of the evidence METR found most informative; the public cannot fully inspect that underlying material.
Distinguish the report's estimate, evidence unavailable for public inspection, and your own inference. A numerical interval does not cancel the written uncertainty. Nor should a synthesis of several signals be described as a controlled experiment isolating AI's causal effect.
How should you read the July-model risk review?
A companion METR post reviews Anthropic's August Risk Report, covering models as of July 15. METR agrees that direct catastrophic risk was low, but considers an early-warning threshold crossing plausible; most relevant researchers leaned toward no crossing.
Plausible does not mean confirmed. An early-warning signal and direct catastrophic risk are different judgments. Label the report's publication date, model cutoff and external review date separately, so a July conclusion does not become a claim about October models.
Use an evidence note for team decisions
Editorial suggestion: save the source link, reading date, measure, comparison window and limitations before stating the decision you need to make. If the question concerns delivery efficiency, agree on a verifiable completion standard first. Producing a draft sooner and delivering a usable result sooner require different records.
For your own comparison, fix representative tasks and acceptance criteria. Record completion time, quality defects, human review and rework separately. Keep failed and unfinished tasks alongside successes. When the evidence is insufficient, leave the local gain unknown instead of filling it with the study's multiplier.
Present the report's conclusions and local observations in separate columns, identifying sample scope and conditions. For product changes, use an official release-note verification guide. Do not infer new features, quota or pricing entitlements for your account from this research.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the study’s use of unreleased model data mean customers can use those models?
That does not follow. Research data is not a customer access notice; check the relevant official product announcement for model access, plan and regional conditions.
How should I update an internal note if more evidence appears?
Retain the original cited version and reading date. Record new evidence and the conclusions it affects. If the comparison or judgment changes, update the decision while identifying local outcomes that remain unmeasured; do not silently turn an earlier estimate into a measured result.
