Walmart shipping-template migration is simpler: check warehouses, then select eligible SKUs

Still using Shipping Templates? Walmart now offers a more direct migration path, but its bulk option migrates eligible items. Match warehouses, regions, and rates first, then decide between a full eligible batch and selected SKUs.

Service eligibility and regional restrictions

PuppyIP serves only compliant overseas businesses and their authorized personnel. Proxy services are not available in mainland China. The service may only be used for lawful business activities outside mainland China. Use of this service within mainland China is prohibited.

Hosting a proxy IP or server overseas does not change these restrictions. The service must not be provided to end users in mainland China through relaying, forwarding, sharing or resale. Before use, read the Terms of Service.

Key Takeaways

  • The October 7 update improves template migration for US seller-fulfilled shipping; no mandatory migration deadline for every account was published.
  • Simplified settings support free and paid shipping, virtual packs, and most domestic USPS, UPS, and FedEx services, with explicit exclusions.
  • Bulk migration first confirms warehouses and services, then selects eligible items from manual templates and uses Save and submit.
  • Individual SKUs and the Modify item shipping settings file can also apply the setting. The default is the contiguous 48 states; Hawaii and Alaska need separate zones.
  • Free shipping requires at least one carrier providing free coverage throughout the contiguous 48 states. Use Shipping rules to charge only specified items.

A simpler migration still relies on your shipping configuration

Existing Walmart Shipping Templates can migrate to Simplified Shipping Settings. The October 7 update makes the path more direct: confirm warehouses, services, and carriers, then migrate all eligible SKUs from manual templates or selected items.

Simplified Shipping Settings lets Walmart combine warehouse, carrier, regional, and rate configuration to calculate delivery promises. It reduces template maintenance but does not decide your actual ship-from location, buyer charges, or item eligibility.

This guide concerns US seller-fulfilled shipping. The announcement and both guides are dated October 7, 2026. They give no mandatory migration deadline or per-account availability time; inspect your own Seller Center.

Check item scope before interpreting “entire catalog”

Current guidance supports free and paid shipping, virtual packs, and most US domestic USPS, UPS, and FedEx services. Both “most” and “eligible SKUs” are qualifications: a carrier name alone does not establish that every item can migrate.

Notes exclude Ship to Store items, international shipping, freight, and third-party logistics such as Flexport. International replenishment and WFS warehousing are different stages from domestic seller shipping; one configuration cannot replace their workflows.

The same page's shipping-method step also lists freight, conflicting with its exclusion note. Do not migrate freight items just because an option appears. Confirm support with Walmart Seller Support while proceeding with clearly supported items.

Verify warehouses and the 48-state scope before selecting migration

In Seller Center's Account settings, open Shipping Profile, select Simplified Shipping Settings, and choose Get started. Walmart recommends configuring fulfillment centers and adding inventory first. Check warehouse addresses and operating hours and save changes with Update.

For a separate location or different hours, choose Add fulfillment center, enter details, and use Create fulfillment center. These configurations help select warehouse-carrier combinations; wrong addresses or hours affect the basis for delivery promises.

The default carrier region is the contiguous 48 states. In Shipping zones and rates, Edit beside a region adjusts regions or charges. Add Hawaii, Alaska, and other required areas through Add shipping zone; default coverage is not all of the United States.

Hypothetical example: a store has East and West Coast warehouses, but only its West Coast address is recorded. Bulk migration will not add the East Coast warehouse automatically. First enter the correct address, hours, and inventory, then confirm services and coverage.

Bulk migration depends on the eligible-item checkbox

From Simplified Shipping Settings, choose Get started, confirm fulfillment centers, and Continue. Select actual shipping methods and carriers for each speed, then Continue to review. Configure regional differences in carriers or services here too.

Under Apply to existing catalog, select Apply to all eligible items from my manual templates. After reviewing, use Save and submit. Walmart automatically migrates eligible SKUs and their settings from Shipping Templates.

The checkbox concerns eligible items in existing manual templates, not guaranteed success for every SKU. Separate domestic parcels from exclusions beforehand. Afterwards, inspect Catalog to see each item's settings instead of treating one save as completion for the entire catalog.

For selected items, use a SKU or file path

To apply the setting to one SKU, show the Shipping template column through Catalog's Columns configuration. Find the item, select its Shipping Template name, choose Simplified and Simplified shipping settings, then Update.

For a file batch, open Catalog, Update items, Update with file, then Modify item shipping settings. Enter SKU ID in the first template column and Simplified Shipping Settings in the second, then upload the completed file in the same dialog.

These paths apply existing simplified settings to chosen items; they do not configure warehouses or rates themselves. Decide eligible items first to avoid mixing international, special-logistics, or unconfirmed SKUs into a bulk migration.

Apply rates to items and verify the result

After initial configuration, Manage settings supports paid, free, or mixed shipping by state or region. Free shipping requires at least one carrier providing free coverage across the contiguous 48 states. It does not require every method or region to be free.

To charge only certain products, use Shipping rules based on price, brand, item type, weight, and other criteria. Charging low-priced items is Walmart's example, not a universal requirement to use the same price threshold.

After creating a rule, Walmart finds qualifying items with Simplified Shipping Settings enabled and applies the configuration. Check representative SKUs, regions, and buyer rates against your intended change. This is an operational review suggestion, not an additional enrollment or approval process.

The public text does not fully explain migration back to Shipping Templates, display timing, or late-carrier protection. If Catalog differs from expectations, retain the SKU and displayed configuration and ask Seller Support. Do not promise delivery can never be late or complete performance immunity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Walmart lower shipping costs for every seller?

The update improves configuration and migration, not a universal logistics-price reduction. Paid or free shipping describes seller-configured buyer charges; it does not establish lower carrier or other platform fees.

If Get started is missing, must I use an API?

No. Public guidance does not give every account's availability date or fully explain migration API eligibility and calls. Ask Seller Support about the account's entry point and applicable scope.

Must I migrate everything to retain arrangements for special items?

No. The guide provides individual-SKU and file-based alternatives. Confirm support for international, freight, or other excluded items before deciding whether this configuration applies.
